VIENNA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 27th May, 2019) Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, whose government has received a parliamentary vote of no confidence, assured the country's president on Monday that his party would ensure an orderly transfer of power and support any interim government.Earlier in the day, the lower house of the Austrian parliament passed a motion of no confidence against Kurz and his government amid the scandal with Kurz's coalition partner, the Freedom Party of Austria (FPO), whose former leader Heinz-Christian Strache was taped discussing potentially exchanging government contracts against help with election.
"After the parliamentary vote, I called the Federal president and assured him that we are ready for an orderly transfer of power and the transitional government, and that we will support the interim government unconditionally, regardless of who he [the president] finds," Kurz said in an address to supporters, broadcast by the ORF television.
Kurz added that his Austrian People's Party would actively seek support of the population ahead of snap elections in September.
