MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 24th May, 2019) Sberbank, the largest Russian bank, is planning to optimize its presence in Europe, Sberbank CEO Herman Gref told Kommersant newspaper without specifying, however, what countries were being referred to.
"We are going to optimize our presence in Europe, but we cannot say in what countries," Gref said.
Gref said last May that Sberbank was phasing out its strategy for international expansion. The bank currently expects to finalize the deal on selling its Turkish subsidiary Denizbank to Dubai-based Emirates NBD banking group. Sberbank has also tried to sell its subsidiary bank in Ukraine for three times.
