MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd May, 2019) Russia and Vietnam increase cooperation in economic sphere and in the international arena, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.Earlier in the day, Putin and Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev held meetings with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
"I do not need to talk about the formal side of our relations, they are certainly of a strategic nature, based on the traditions of friendship and unity of views on many issues ... We are expanding our economic and political cooperation and coordinating our efforts in the international arena," Putin said during the meeting with Nguyen.
Putin expressed hope that the visit of Vietnamese delegation to Russia would further trigger development of bilateral relations.
The Vietnamese prime minister, in turn, said that Hanoi attached great importance to comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries and expressed readiness to make efforts to upgrade relations with Russia to a new, more productive level.
