Rawalpindi gang rape victim being pressured to withdraw case

The family alleged that they have been receiving threats from the policemen's families

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 20th May, 2019) The family of the Rawalpindi gang rape victim has alleged that the policemen have been pressuring them to drop their case.

The family alleged that they have been receiving threats while the families of the accused policemen are pressuring them to wrap up the case through acts of contrition.

However, the sections under which a case has been registered against the accused are non-bailable.

Some police officials allegedly gang raped a girl in Rawalpindi.

A case against four accused, including three police officials, was registered in Rawat police station in Rawalpindi.

The victim girl in her statement said that the police officials riding a car having black shades kidnapped her as she was on her way to her hostel.

The girl said that the police officials kept driving all night and allegedly raped her in the car in a desolate area.

The accused not only robbed her of cash and jewellery but also kept trying to contact her after the rape, she added.

After the complaint was registered, the three policemen were suspended. The Rawat police started investigation into the case and arrested all four accused.

The accused have been identified as Naseer, Rashid Minhas, Azeem and Amir.

The four accused were handed over to the police for five-day physical remand on Sunday.

The DNA samples and medical tests of the victim sent to a forensic laboratory in Lahore confirmed that the girl was sexually assaulted.
