Putin May Continue Working With Ukraine's Medvedchuk on Donbas Prisoner Issue - Kremlin

Russian President Vladimir Putin will continue to cooperate with the chairman of the political council of Ukrainian Opposition Platform - For Life party, Viktor Medvedchuk, if the latter implements humanitarian initiatives with regard to persons detained in Ukraine's conflict-torn Donbas region, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th May, 2019) Russian President Vladimir Putin will continue to cooperate with the chairman of the political council of Ukrainian Opposition Platform - For Life party, Viktor Medvedchuk, if the latter implements humanitarian initiatives with regard to persons detained in Ukraine's conflict-torn Donbas region, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday.

"[Medvedchuk] is a person who is in contact with Vladimir Putin and, of course, in any case, this contact will continue. And if Medvedchuk will be able to, let's say, implement really effectively, on the part of Ukraine, these ... humanitarian initiatives, very necessary initiatives, then, of course, it can be said that this work will continue," Peskov said, when asked whether Medvedchuk would remain a person in direct contact with Putin.

The news comes after Volodymyr Zelenskiy's inauguration as new Ukraine's president earlier in the day.
