Nawaz Sharif again files bail plea in IHC

Nawaz Sharif has, through his petition, sought bail in Al-Azizia Reference on medical grounds.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 20th May, 2019) Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has once again filed a bail petition in Islamabad High Court (IHC).

Nawaz Sharif’s chief counsel Khawaja Haris filed the bail petition in the court.

National Accountability Court (NAB) chairman and Kot Lakhpat Jail superintendent have been made respondents in the petition.
Nawaz Sharif has pleaded that his health condition is ‘worsening’ therefore he should be granted a bail.
“According to the advice of doctors, Nawaz Sharif’s life is in danger. State of isolation may cause his health to further deteriorate”, the petition stated.

The petition also included advices of doctors of United States, United Kingdom and Switzerland.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif returned to jail after his bail expired on May 8.

The Supreme Court had on May 3 rejected former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's request seeking extension in his six-week bail on medical ground.

The apex court also rejected his plea seeking permission for treatment in the United Kingdom. The PML-N’s supremo who was handed seven years jail and Rs5 billion fine in Al Azizia Steel Mill case in December 2018.

He was granted bail on March 26 by the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The court had suspended the sentence of Nawaz in the Azizia Steel Mills case and granted him bail for six weeks that ended on May 8.
