The Russian-Belarusian working group on the assessment of damages inflicted by the low-quality oil incident in the Druzhba pipeline will present first results of the study on Monday

ARKHANGELSKOYE (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th May, 2019) The Russian-Belarusian working group on the assessment of damages inflicted by the low-quality oil incident in the Druzhba pipeline will present first results of the study on Monday, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak said on Saturday.

"It [the working group] has already started the work and the first results will be presented on Monday," Kozak told reporters.

The problem with the quality of oil coming from Russia to Belarus through the Druzhba pipeline of the Russian state-owned Transneft oil transport monopoly arose in April. Poland and Ukraine halted oil transit from Russia via Belarus after it had been discovered that the transported oil was contaminated with chlorides. Russia has launched an investigation into the matter and has so far detained four people over the incident. Uncontaminated Russian oil reached the Belarusian border on May 2.

According to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, the damage inflicted by contaminated Russian oil amounts to hundreds of millions of Dollars, whileRussian Energy Minister Alexander Novak believes that the damage could amount to less than $100 million.
