Ghost schools hunt million of rupees in Jhang

Millions of rupees corruption has been surfaced in the district education department Jhang, sources said on Thursday

Jhang (Pakistan Point News / Online - 16th May, 2019) Millions of rupees corruption has been surfaced in the district education department Jhang, sources said on Thursday.The education department Punjab issued millions of rupees funds to 200 basic community schools in the district. The sources said that as many as 60 ghost schools have been found in the Jhang district of Punjab.The BFCS officers, during the previous government, transferred millions of rupees in their accounts at the Names of these ghost schools.

A corruption scam worth Rs20 billion has been exposed. The ministry of education extracted the amount at the name of basic community schools in the province.The current government exposed the corruption scam during audit of the BFCS. BFCS Assistant Director Imran Asmat told Online that as many as 200 community schools had been established in the district, adding that as per initial investigation 60 schools were found ghost.Following the corruption scam, the administration has stopped the grant to community schools, he said.

He, however, a summer for funds has been sent to the higher officials for other community schools.Asmat said a comprehensive review of all the schools is being made and the administration will take all measures to eliminate corruption at the names of these schools.It is pertinent to mention here that, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is already investigating the corruption scandal of Rs200 million. National Assembly Public Account Committee (PAC) had ordered inquiry of the corruption scam some two years ago. However, over two years have gone but investigation could not be completed so far.
