ISLAMABAD (Pakistan Point News / Online - 16th May, 2019) Supreme Court (SC) while expressing annoyance over Sindh government attitude has summoned chief secretary Sindh on MAY 23 in Nai Gaj Dam construction case.Nai Gaj dam construction case came up for hearing before SC on Thursday.The court during the hearing of case expressed displeasure over attitude of Sindh government and summoned chief secretary Sindh on May 23 remarking the statement of chief secretary will be recorded in connection with Nai Gaj Dam construction.

Justice Azmat Saeed inquired Nai Gaj dam falls in what district.Additional Advocate General (AAG) Sindh told the court Nai Gaj dam will be constructed in district Dadu.Justice Azmat Saeed remarked "we know about the districts and persons whose lands government wants to irrigate. Does Sindh government want we mention the name of these persons in the court. Sindh governments wants it makes no difference if the remaining people die.Justice Azmat Saeed remarked " chief secretary should give statement that there is no need to irrigate the land of Dadu.

Sindh government should say people of Dadu need no water. If people of Sindh don't want water then it is their choice. ."Once the chief secretary has given his statement, the court will then review its decision. It is possible we will review our orders regarding the construction of the dam. The court can no longer take the weight of this," Justice Saeed added.Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan remarked "Sindh government is not even accepting ECNEC decision. The cost of dam is rising with every passing day. Sindh government will then say would we drink Coca Cola if water is not available.Deputy Attorney General (DAG ) told the court the cost of project was Rs 26 billion and now its cost has increased to Rs 46 billion.The court adjourned the hearing of the case till May 23.
