Shahrukh Jatoi to challenge SHC’s verdict in Supreme Court

The Sindh High Court had commuted the death sentence of convict Shahrukh Jatoi in Shahzeb Khan murder case to life sentence.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 13th May, 2019) The lawyer of Shahrukh Jatoi, convicted in Shahzeb Murder case, has decided to go against the Sindh High Court (SHC) commuting his death sentence to life imprisonment.

Shahrukh Jatoi’s lawyer has announced to go the Supreme Court against the SHC decision.

The lawyer said that the prosecution is not satisfied with the judgment of SHC and will therefore challenge it in the Supreme Court.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has commuted the death sentence of convict Shahrukh Jatoi in Shahzeb Khan murder case to life sentence.

The court on Monday announced the reserved judgment on appeals of Shahrukh Jatoi and other convicts in the Shahzeb murder case.

The SHC suspended Shahrukh Jatoi’s death sentence and reduced it to life sentence.

The court has ordered to upheld the life sentence of convicts Murtaza Lashari and Sajjad Talpur.

The Anti Terrorism Court had sentenced Shahrukh Jatoi and Nawab Siraj Ali Talpur to death on June 7, 2013, while Siraj’s brother Nawab Sajjad Ali Talpur and Siraj’s employee Ghulam Murtaza Lashari were sentenced to life term.

The court had found them guilty of murdering private university student Shahzeb Khan on December 24, 2012.

The convicts had appealed for the suspension of their sentence.

The SHC bench headed by Justice Mohammad Ali Mazhar had heard the appeals of the convicts.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had set aside a previous judgment by SHC suspending their conviction awarded by ATC and had remanded back the case to a sessions court for de novo trial.
