Fawad Chaudhry suggests giving govt jobs to mosque clerics to end monopoly of particular group

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 11th May, 2019) Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has suggested that government jobs of Grade 14-16 should be provided to mosque clerics.

Taking to Twitter, the minister said that instead of allocating resources to a very small group, the state should provide Grade 14-16 jobs to all mosque clerics.

He said that this will end the monopoly of a particular group and will create a discipline.

He said that the provincial ministers should fulfil their responsibilities in this regard.

Earlier, the Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry constituted a five member committee to prepare lunar Calendar for the next five years.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry, the committee comprising representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology, COMSATS University of Islamabad, two officials of Meteorology Department and Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO).

The committee would determine the exact dates of Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha and Muharram for the next five years with 100 percent accuracy through technology.

The minister said that the committee has been formed to end disputes related to crescent sightings.

He also said that it is not wise to spend 3.6 to 4 million rupees to sight Ramzan and Eid moon.

Fawad Chaudhry maintained that the religious scholars are respectable but they should not charge money to sight moon as this work is done voluntarily around the world.
