IMF Managing Director To Attend Economic Events In Kazakhstan On May 16 - National Bank

ALMATY (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th May, 2019) The managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde, will pay a visit to Kazakhstan on May 16 to take part in the Astana Economic Forum (AEF) and a regional roundtable on economic policies for inclusive development, the National Bank of Kazakhstan said in a statement on Friday.

"IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde will visit Kazakhstan on May 16 to take part in AEF and a regional roundtable dedicated to 'economic policy measures for inclusive growth.' Kazakh Prime Minister Askar Mamin; [Kazakh] National Bank Governor Erbolat Dossaev; heads of central banks and finance ministers of regional states of the Caucasus and Central Asia, Mongolia and the Eurasian Economic Union; and representatives of international finance organizations and embassies accredited in the Kazakh capital will take part in the roundtable," the National Bank of Kazakhstan wrote on Facebook.

Apart from that, the roundtable will gather representatives of states that support the initiatives of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Program.

The roundtable will focus on current state of affairs in the economy and necessary measures for sustainable and inclusive economic growth of regional players.

"Upon completion of the event, the IMF managing director will hold a briefing for representatives of Kazakh and foreign media," the statement read on.

AEF is a regional platform for dialogue on global challenges, formed by the Eurasian Economic Club of Scientists Association and the Kazakh government in 2008. The meeting is held annually in the Kazakh capital of Nur-Sultan, bringing together over 8,000 delegates from 100 countries. AEF presents its recommendations to a G20 Summit every year.
