Security guard Rafaqat Ali who lost his life in Data Darbar blast

Rafaqat Ali’s salary was only Rs 8000 per month and he had not been paid for four months.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 9th May, 2019) At least 10 people, including four policemen, were killed while 28 others injured in a suicide attack on a police van at Gate 2 of the Data Darbar here on Wednesday.

It was a suicide attack which was carried out by a 15-16 year-old boy whose amputated hand had been recovered by the law enforcement agencies.

Seven kilogram of explosive material with ball-bearings was used in the locally made suicide jacket while the attacker hit himself against the Elite Force Police van and exploded the suicide jacket.

The deceased have been identified as head constable Muhammad Sohail of Gujranwala, Head constable Shahid Nazir of Kasur, constable Muhammad Saleem of Baghbanpura Lahore, security guards Rafaqat Ali, Rafiq and four unidentified.

Media reports said that security guard Rafaqat Ali had not been paid for four months. He is survived by three minor girls.

He was deployed for the security of Data Darbar. There were heart-wrenching scenes when his dead body reached home.

His family members and neighbours mourned his death.

The martyred security guard used to live in a small house of one room. His widow said that Rafaqat Ali’s salary was only Rs 8000 per month and he had not been paid for four months.

The neighbours said that Rafaqat Ali was hardly making ends meet. Now after him, life is even more difficult for his wife and children.

The government has been demanded to support the family of the deceased.
