Popular Ramzan drink Rooh Afza disappears in India, Pakistan offers help

Rooh Afza is missing from Indian markets for four to five months now.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 8th May, 2019) Indian Muslims are facing a crisis as Ramzan’s favourite drink Rooh Afza goes missing from the market.

Rooh Afza is a traditional drink that makes an important constituent of Iftar. It is produced by Hamdard, a company whose separate strands exist in both India and Pakistan.

However, media reports suggest that Rooh Afza is missing from Indian markets for four to five months now and is neither available at online stores.

Although company managers say that the drink will be back on the shelves in a couple of weeks, it provides little reassurance to Indian Muslims.

As Pakistan came to know about this, it has offered its help to minimise the Rooh Afza crisis.

In response to the media reports about Rooh Afza being off the market during Ramzan, the head of Hamdard Laboratories Waqf Pakistan has offered to supply it to India through the Wagah border.

Pakistani Hamdard MD and CEO Usama Qureshi said in a tweet, “We can supply RoohAfza and RoohAfzaGO to India during this Ramzan. We can easily send trucks through Wahga (sic) border if permitted by Indian Government.”

Let’s see how India responds to this offer and how Rooh Afza crisis is managed in the neighbouring country.
