Data Darbar blast site was already declared sensitive: Minister

The provincial minister said that the attack is highly condemnable, adding that initial investigations into the blast are underway.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 8th May, 2019) Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat has said that the site of Lahore blast was already declared sensitive.

This was why the elite force was deployed there.

Raja Basharat said that such a miscreant cannot be considered a Muslim. Such people don’t have any relation with islam or Pakistan.

The provincial minister said that the attack is highly condemnable, adding that initial investigations into the blast are underway.

The evidence collected from the site suggest that it was a suicide blast however it is not confirmed yet.

He said that the government is taking steps to counter such attacks in the future.

Atleast eight people, including five policemen, were killed while several others were injuried in a suicide attack near Data Darbar on Wednesday.

Rescue 1122 sources said that the blast took place near a police van outside Data Darbar, gate no. 2.

The officials of elite forces were targeted in the blast. Five policemen are confirmed to have been martyred and 25 other people received injuries.

According to police, seven kilogram explosive material was used in the blast.

The injured were shifted to Mayo hospital.

The security forces have cordoned off the area and started investigation.
