Russia Prepares Legal Framework for Oil Quality Checks After Druzhba Incident - Minister

Russia has worked out the legal framework for oil quality control to avoid the repeat of the incident with contaminated oil in Druzhba pipeline, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said Tuesday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th May, 2019) Russia has worked out the legal framework for oil quality control to avoid the repeat of the incident with contaminated oil in Druzhba pipeline, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said Tuesday.

"The ministry and relevant agencies have analyzed the existing legal framework and prepared proposals for changes to avoid degradation of the quality of oil transported via main pipelines ... The commission is suggesting the introduction of changes into the relevant [standard on oil control] ... to expand the list on mandatory daily control of oil quality indicators," Novak said.

The minister added that another proposal concerned amendments to a Federal law on industrial policy "to set out legally product quality requirements." Yet another initiative concerned requirements for technology.
