A video of Indian Air Force (IAF) Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman taking selfies with colleagues has gone viral on social media.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 6th May, 2019) Despite the Indian claims of downing Pakistan’s F-16 on February 27 turned out to be wrong, Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman has returned to his squadron in Srinagar as a ‘hero’.

A video of Indian Air Force (IAF) Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman taking selfies with colleagues has gone viral on social media.

In the video, Abhinandan can be seen and heard joining his colleagues and others chanting slogans and cheering for the IAF and the Defence Security Corps.

Not only that, he also gives a message to people, saying that he has taken these pictures for the families of his colleagues who prayed for him.

"All these photographs are not for you but for your families I could not meet. All of you and your families prayed for my health and I want to thank them all," he is heard as saying in the video.

Wing Commander Abhinandan was arrested by Pakistani forces on February 27 when his aircraft was shot down by Pakistan Air Force after violation of Pakistan air-space.

Pakistan released Indian fighter pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan and handed him over to Indian authorities at Wagah Border on March 1.

His release was announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan as a peace gesture during a speech in Joint Session of the Parliament.

After he returned to India, he was seen as a hero as Indian government claimed to have shot down Pakistan’s F-16 in the February 27 strike by Abhinandan which was later rejected by several leading publications.
