MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th May, 2019) The United States will not succeed in its attempts to tear down Venezuela's sovereignty, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza said on Sunday at the meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
"No one and nothing could break down our spirit. National sovereignty of Venezuela will not be overthrown by this imperialist government," Arreaza said, referring to Washington.
On Tuesday, the Venezuelan opposition, led by US-backed self-proclaimed president Juan Guaido, initiated a fresh attempt to oust President Nicolas Maduro, staging a demonstration in front of La Carlota military base in Caracas. The coup attempt turned violent and resulted in some 240 people injured, according to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
