MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 05th May, 2019) The relations between Russia and Venezuela are becoming especially important in light of Washington's attempts to transfer power in the Latin American country to the opposition, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza said on Sunday.
"We are still hearing Washington's calls for changing power in Venezuela using illegal and unconstitutional means and without taking into consideration the Venezuelan people's will. In this context, the relations between Moscow and Caracas are becoming especially important. They are important not only for our countries, they are important for the whole world, as we should give an example of how one should act in such situations," Arreaza said at talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.
He added that Caracas was thankful to Moscow for the "leading role" that it was playing in the UN group, which Caracas had created "in order to protect principles enshrined in the UN Charter," and for Russia's "diplomatic attempts to support Venezuelan position in the global arena."
