US Dragon Cargo Spacecraft Blasts Off From Florida to ISS Atop Falcon 9 Launcher

US manufacturer SpaceX's Falcon 9 launch vehicle with Dragon spacecraft, set to deliver cargo to the crew of the International Space Station (ISS), blazed off on Saturday from the US Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 04th May, 2019) US manufacturer SpaceX's Falcon 9 launch vehicle with Dragon spacecraft, set to deliver cargo to the crew of the International Space Station (ISS), blazed off on Saturday from the US Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

The vehicle was launched at 2.49 a.m. local time (06:49 GMT). The launch was broadcast by NASA.

Dragon will deliver 2.7 tonnes of cargo to the ISS. According to NASA, Dragon will take to the station materials for over 200 experiments, related to health-care and space medicine in particular, which are currently ongoing at the ISS. Dragon is also carrying OCO-3 instrument for measuring the Earth's carbon dioxide levels.

Dragon is expected to reach the ISS on Monday.
