Karachi (Pakistan Point News / Online - 02nd May, 2019) National Accountability Bureau Karachi has decided to forward the reference to Accountability Court against Former Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping and MQM leader , Babar Khan Ghuri for making illegal appointments in his subordinate departments including Ports Qasim Authority(PQA).The meeting of regional board was held here on Thursday under the chairmanship of DG NAB Karachi Brig (R)Farooq Nasir AwanIn compliance with the Chairman NAB Justice (R) Javed Iqbal initiative, zero tolerance against corruption and focus on mega corruption cases, regional board meeting decided and recommended various cases for approval of the chairman.
Subsequent to completion of complaint verification process, case was recommended to NAB HQ for authorization of inquiry lieu of illegal appointments in the year 2007-2013. A complaint was received in the Bureau in which complainant has made following allegations:-The appointments made in PQA in different years were irregular and appropriate procedures and rules and regulations were not followed. A petition was also filed in Supreme Court of Pakistan regarding such appointments however, Chairman Agha Jan Akhter reinstated the appointments of BPS-17 and above.
Prima Facie the department has made 981 appointments without fulfilling the codel formalities no codal formalities in the year 2008-13. Allegedly there were 891 appointments made in BPS-2 to BPS-20.it is also alleged that out of 891 appointments, few appointments are made on fake degrees.The regional board appreciated the performance of NAB Karachi on successful disposal of mega cases. DG NAB Karachi Brig (R)Farooq Naser Awan reiterated the resolve to retrieve illegal lands of the State and looted money to be restored to national exchequer with more efforts of investigating teams.
