The police officials came under criticism as the video went viral on social media.

People are asking if the law is only for the poor and unpowerful.

A number of riders have been challaned in the country for violating traffic rules in different areas. Action against traffic rules violators was started on the orders of traffic police chiefs for keeping the traffic-flow smooth and in order.

In another step to ensure observance of traffic rules in the city, the Lahore High Court (LHC) had ordered to suspend the driving license of those repeatedly violating the traffic rules.

Earlier, the LHC had made wearing a helmet compulsory for pillion riders. The court had ordered to challan the riders if they violate the helmet rule besides ordering a crackdown against motorcyclists not having side mirrors on their bikes.

A special crackdown was carried out across Punjab to implement traffic rules and laws including use of helmets, lane and line discipline, use of rear mirrors, rear and front lights and others.

The mandatory use of helmet by motorcyclists has caused upto 80 percent reduction in major head injuries in road accidents as the City Traffic Police (CTP) started crackdown against violation of helmet rule from September 24 onwards.
