Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 30th April, 2019) The chairman of ExxonMobil, the company drilling in the Arabian Sea to discover oil and gas reserves, reached Islamabad with a report regarding the update of drilling process.
The ExxonMobil delegation also called on Petroleum Minister Omar Ayub and Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi in Islamabad on Tuesday.
ExxonMobil chairman Alex Volkov, along with his team, held productive discussions with the ministers relating to LNG requirements in Pakistan and the offshore drilling project off the coast of Karachi.
Petroleum Minister Omar Ayub said that the government will fully facilitate foreign investors in the country. He said that many employment opportunities will be generated after exploration of energy resources in Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Special Assistant for Petroleum Nadeem Babar said there are bright chances of energy resources from Kekra-I in the sea.
He said the government will fully cooperate for independent and secured investment in the country.
The ExxonMobil chairman is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Imran Khan. He will apprise him of the outcomes of drilling process currently underway at Karachi sea.
Pakistan found signs of success in the ongoing oil and gas drilling in the deep sea. The details suggest that a kick pressure was felt during the ultra-deep drilling in Kekra-1 area of the Arabian Sea. The kick pressure means presence of huge gas reserves.
It is anticipated that gas discovery will yield gas flows which can be bigger than Sui field.
Let it be known that 3000-meter drilling has been completed so far in the sea and will continue to over 4000 meters. Pakistan Petroleum (PPL), Oil & Gas Development Co (OGDCL), ENI and ExxonMobil are carrying out the drilling.
