The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry hascalled upon the government to closely work with private sector for exportsdiversification and product sophistication as lack of exportdiversification has remained a major hurdle to improving economic growthand coping with balance of payments crisis in Pakistan

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News / Online - 29th April, 2019) The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry hascalled upon the government to closely work with private sector for exportsdiversification and product sophistication as lack of exportdiversification has remained a major hurdle to improving economic growthand coping with balance of payments crisis in Pakistan.Ahmed Hassan Moughal, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industrysaid that the mix of products exported by a country directly affected itseconomic growth.

He said that Pakistan has always relied on exporting lowvalue-added products including textiles, fabrics, footwear, leather andsome other products due to which it mostly experienced sluggish economicgrowth. However, many of our competitors have moved beyond low-value addedexports to sophisticated and high value-added exports due to which theyhave achieved better economic growth.
