Heat wave alert issued for Karachi

According to Met office, Karachi will be affected by a scorching heat wave from May 1 to May 3 with temperatures feared to range between 40-42 degrees Celsius during the day time.

Karachi (Pakistan Point News – 27th April, 2019) The Meteorological Department has issued a heat wave alert for Karachi.

According to Met office, Karachi will be affected by a scorching heat wave from May 1 to May 3 with temperatures feared to range between 40-42 degrees Celsius during the day time.

The Met office has advised the people to be cautious while venturing out from their homes next week.

Scorching heat adversely affects the routine life and people.

Health care providers are of the opinion that people must not ignore associated implications of temperatures soaring to 40 degrees centigrade on their general well-being, in particular context of health - which though could be easily averted through simple interventions.

Meanwhile, the Karachi administration has decided to establish 118 first response heatwave management centres as part of preparations to deal with possible heatwave in the next two months.

The city administration has finalised arrangements to prevent any heatstroke cases in the wake of forecasts of an increase in the intensity of heat in May and June.

Besides these measures, the cooperation of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, district municipal corporations, health department, Karachi Water and Sewerage board, K-Electric, police and other departments will also be sought to tackle heat conditions.
