Government should avoid making CPEC controversial: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

PPP chairman says there is no room for the third umpire in the democracy. He reiterated the NAB was a black law and being used for political victimization.

LAHORE- (Pakistan Point News- 26th April 2019) PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has asked the PTI government to take ahead CPEC project.

Talking to media, he said the PTI government should avoid making the multi-billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor controversial. He said the PPP had started the project while PML-N took it forward. Now, he added, it was the responsibility of the government to take it further ahead.

The PPP chairman claimed that Imran Khan’s government took the funds for CPEC but the money was handed over to the parliamentarians in the name of development funds. He said the PPP and other opposition parties recorded their protest over it which was unconstitutional.

He further expressed his party’s commitment to strengthening democracy in the country and also grabbed the opportunity to grill the PTI government.

“The democratic government has only one umpire and that’s its people. There is no room for the third umpire in the democracy,” said the PPP chairman. He reiterated the NAB was a black law and being used for political victimization.
