First Putin-Kim Meeting Important For Denuclearization - South Korean Ambassador

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 25th April, 2019) The recent meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is important for reducing tensions on the Korean Peninsula, peace and denuclearization, South Korea's Ambassador to Moscow Woo Yoon-keun said Thursday.

"I believe that the first meeting between President Vladimir Putin and Chairman Kim Jong Un is important for reducing tensions on the Korean Peninsula, establishing peace and moving toward denuclearization," the ambassador said.

Putin and Kim met at the Far Eastern Federal University on Vladivostok's Russky Island earlier on Thursday. The meeting was not only their first summit and Kim's first visit to Russia since coming to power in 2011 but also the North Korean leader's first overseas trip since his re-election as the chairman of the State Affairs Commission earlier in April. Putin has said he is satisfied with how the meeting went.
