ABU DHABI, (Pakistan Point News - 24th Apr, 2019) H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Department of Transport and Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has honoured the 163 winners of the "7th Think Science Competition 2019," which was held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, in the presence of H.H Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Managing Director of the Emirates Foundation, along with members of the foundation and senior officials, scholars and experts.
Think Science is designed for UAE youth between the ages of 15-35 to develop their knowledge in the field of science, technology and innovation (STI). The programme was set up in 2012, in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Education and Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge, to empower youth to take advantage of the next technological revolution by encouraging them to pursue an education and career in the fields of STI in response to the growing market demands for scientific talent in this space.
The recognition ceremony was held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Chairman of the board of Directors of the Emirates Foundation.
Addressing the function, Sheikh Theyab praised the innovative spirit of the participating youth as well as their scientific and technological ideas and achievements.
Sheikh Theyab also honoured the strategic partners of Think Science competition, which aims to support and train the UAE’s youth, hailing the country’s leadership for supporting science and encouraging the youth. He also underlined the commitment of the Emirates Foundation to realise the National Innovation Strategy.
"We are proud of the innovative spirit of the UAE’s youth and the country’s success in empowering them in terms of science and technology," he said, underscoring the importance of maintaining continued support for scientists and innovators, to achieve the programme’s goal of encouraging the youth to study science and help the country ensure future development.
