The center-left party also stresses that it "beggars belief that" British Premier Minister Theresa May invited Trump as a state guest amid his threats to veto a UN resolution against the use of rape as a weapon of war.
According to UN sources cited in reports, the United States was threatening to veto the UN resolution aimed at preventing the use of rape as a weapon of war because of its language on reproductive and sexual health.
On Thursday, the White House confirmed in a press release that US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump would travel to the United Kingdom on the invitation of Queen Elizabeth II. The White House said the visit would reaffirm the steadfast and special transatlantic relationship. The president will also participate in a bilateral meeting with UK Prime Minister Theresa May, the release said.
Trump and the first lady will also attend a ceremony in Portsmouth to mark the 75th anniversary of the Allied D-Day operation to liberate Europe during World War II.
