Govt will not resist if people want presidential system: Farogh Naseem

Local TV reported the federal law minister saying that presidential system could be introduced through the referendum

LAHORE- (Pakistan Point News- 23rd April 2019) Law Minister Farogh Naseem has said that if people want presidential system then there should not be any objection over it.

Talking to a local TV, he, though, clarified that no such thing was under consideration for now, but he was quick to add that if the presidential system was being adopted in a constitutional way then it would also be democratic.

The local tv quoted him saying: “If masses want a presidential system then the government would surrender before their demand.”

The minister gave an indication that the presidential system could be introduced through a referendum.

To a question, he said an amendment would be required with a two-thirds majority to bring the presidential system in the country.

This is important to mention here that rumors are already circulating that the presidential system is being introduced in the country. The PPP and other opposition parties have said that they would resist the system.
