Pakistan’s nukes also not for Eid: Mehbooba Mufti reacts to Modi’s nuclear threat

Says don’t know why PM Modi must stoop so and reduce political discourse to this.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 23rd April, 2019) Indian Prime minister Narendra Modi recently said that India is no more afraid of nuclear threats from Pakistan.

He said that India is no longer afraid of the threats of a nuclear war given by Pakistan every now and then while emphasizing that "we haven't saved our nukes for Diwali".

Commenting on this, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti, who is often seen criticising the BJP, said if India has not kept its nuclear bomb for Diwali then Pakistan has also not kept it for Eid.

Taking to Twitter, Mehbooba Mufti wrote, “If India hasn’t kept nuclear bomb for Diwali, it’s obvious Pakistan’s not kept theirs for Eid either. Don’t know why PM Modi must stoop so low & reduce political discourse to this.”

Addressing a rally on Sunday, Modi had said, "India has stopped the policy of getting scared by Pakistan's threats. Every day, Pakistan would make claims about having nuclear weapons. Even the media would bring out reports about Pakistan having nuclear weapons. So what do we have? Are we saving our nuclear weapons for Diwali?"

He said that Indian forces killed terrorists across the border without engaging in a war.

“This is called a strong government. We have created fear among terrorist,” Modi said.

Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated in February, after the Pakistani military shot down two Indian warplanes in the disputed region of Kashmir, responding to an earlier airstrike by Indian aircraft against what New Delhi said was a camp of Jaish-e-Mohammad group, considered terrorists by India and located on the Pakistani soil across the Line of Control.

The Indian airstrike came after a deadly attack by Jaish-e-Mohammad on the Indian paramilitary police force in Pulwama, Kashmir on February 14, leaving 45 victims. While India has accused Pakistan of supporting the militants and having a "direct hand" in the incident, Pakistan, in turn, has rejected the allegations.
