A three-day Annual National Book Mela 2019 concluded here at Pak-china Centre after entertaining hundreds of book lovers with number of literary activities

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News / Online - 23rd April, 2019) A three-day Annual National Book Mela 2019 concluded here at Pak-china Centre after entertaining hundreds of book lovers with number of literary activities.The National Book Mela was organized by National History and Literary Heritage Division and National Book Foundation (NBF), in connection with the National Book Day to be observed on April 22.The Book Mela was held in the supervision of Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Shafqat Mehmood, Secretary National History and Literary Heritage Division Eng.

Aamir Hasan, Joint Secretary Syed JunaidAkhlaq and other senior officials also took part in various literary activities at Mela.A large number of families, especially students thronged the Mela on daily basis and took part in different literary sessions on Ghazal, Novel, Short Stories, Afsana, urdu poetry.The visitors took a round of the around 186 book stalls set up by private publishers, NBF, Embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran, China Cultural Center in Pakistan, Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), Directorate of Electronic Media and Publications (DEMP), National Highway and Motorway Police, Pakistan Post and Pakistan academy of Letters (PAL).

According to NBF officials thousands of books were purchased by the visitors during three-day Mela.The book launching ceremonies, book reading sessions, Book Ambassador Conferences, book launching ceremonies, colorful students' programs and literary sessions with renowned writers and scholars were organized at book Mela.Special activities were also arranged for the children including art workshops, face painting, toys and children book stalls, Gogi show, kids Republic and other attractions.

Managing Director, NBF, Dr. Inam-ul-HaqJaved said three-day Mela has received an over-whelming Mela has received an over-whelming response from the people specially students and families.He said the National Book Mela was aimed to promote book reading culture among people especially culture among people especially youth. This year the event was celebrated under the theme "KitabTeleemiTarraqqi Ki Zamin (Book guarantees education development)".
