Russian President Vladimir Putin did not have the possibility to watch the final debates between incumbent Ukrainian leader Petro Poroshenko and presidential candidate Volodymyr Zelenskiy live, but the relevant record was handed over to him later, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday
MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd April, 2019) Russian President Vladimir Putin did not have the possibility to watch the final debates between incumbent Ukrainian leader Petro Poroshenko and presidential candidate Volodymyr Zelenskiy live, but the relevant record was handed over to him later, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday.The debates between the two candidates were held at Kiev's Olimpiyskiy stadium on Friday.
"As far as I understand, at the time they [the debate] were underway, he [Putin] could not do that as he was tackling the issues of the Chita Region. But the record was given to him, while I am unaware whether he had time to watch this record or not," Peskov told reporters, when asked whether Putin watched the debates and how he felt about them.
The runoff between Zelenskiy and incumbent Poroshenko took place on Sunday. According to the country's Central Election Commission, Zelenskiy is winning by a landslide of 73.21 percent of the vote after 99 percent of ballots were counted. Poroshenko has already admitted his defeat.
