At Least 160 People Killed, Over 360 Injured In Explosions In Sri Lanka - Reports

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st April, 2019) Death toll in multiple explosions that hit Sri Lanka's churches and hotels on Sunday rose to 160 people, while more than 360 were injured, local media reported.

A total of six blasts took place on Sunday in Sri Lanka, hitting three churches and three hotels in the country's capital of Colombo and other cities.

News 1st tv channel reported that blasts in the country's capital of Colombo claimed lives of 40 people and left 295 more injured, the blast at St. Sebastian's Church in the city of Negombo resulted in 93 people killed, while 27 people were killed and 73 were wounded in the explosion at Zion Church in the city of Batticaloa.

Previously, media reported on 52 people killed in the series of blasts.

Russian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Yuri Materiy told Sputnik that, according to preliminary data, there were no Russian citizens among victims of the explosions. The ambassador added that the embassy was currently working to clarify the situation.
