WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th April, 2019) Boeing has won a more than $600 million US Air Force modification contract to produce a vehicle to carry the Wideband Global Communications Satellites into orbit, the Department of Defense said in a news release.
"The Boeing Company [of] El Segundo, California has been awarded a... $605,000,000... modification... contract for the production of the Wideband Global Satellite Communication Space Vehicle 11," the release stated on Friday.
Work on the contract will be performed in El Segundo, California, and is expected to be completed in four-and-a-half years by November 20, 2023, the Defense Department said.
The modification brings the total cumulative face value of the contract to almost $2.5 billion and the Space and Missile Systems Center at Los Angeles Air Force Base, California is the contracting activity, the Defense Department added.
