Russian adventurer Fedor Konyukhov, who is currently on his round-the-world voyage aboard a solo rowboat, is planning to draw paintings, make sculptures and even construct a chapel, his son, Oscar Konyukhov, told Sputnik on Thursday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th April, 2019) Russian adventurer Fedor Konyukhov, who is currently on his round-the-world voyage aboard a solo rowboat, is planning to draw paintings, make sculptures and even construct a chapel, his son, Oscar Konyukhov, told Sputnik on Thursday.

"I have a lot of plans, I miss creativity. I want to start working on the painting dubbed 'Beheading [Execution] of John the Baptist' and paint it all my life. I see it ... as a triptych [artwork divided into three sections]," the adventurer, who is also a Russian Orthodox priest, was quoted as saying.

Konyukhov Sr. hopes to climb Mount Everest in 2020. Moreover, he is planning to bring a canvas and draw a picture there dubbed "Everest from the side of Tibet [historical region in Inner Asia]." Konyukhov is also eager to create a bronze sculpture of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker for the city of Nakhodka in the Russian Far East where he lived some 20 years.

"Last summer we made a seven-meter [22 feet] sculpture of [Saint Nicholas] and installed it in Murmansk. This year we plan to make it for Nakhodka," Konyukhov said.

And the 67-year-old adventurer does not stop at this. He is going to build a chapel dedicated to Saint Varlaam Keret in a village in the Tula Region in the European part of Russia.

"I pray to him here, I have an icon of Saint Varlaam Keret on board. There are many plans, but the main thing is to complete this journey and get to the shores of South America," he admitted.

WORLD RECORDS, EARTH'S EXTREME POINTS, SOLO VOYAGES

The famous Russian survivalist and explorer plans to complete a solo circumnavigation of the Southern Hemisphere on an ocean rowboat in 2018-2020. The three-stage expedition started in November 2018. The whole voyage includes the route from New Zealand's port city of Dunedin to Cape Horn in Chile, then from Chile to Australia's Cape Leeuwin and finally from Australia to New Zealand.

As of now, he survived over 130 days of the voyage and covered more than 6,200 miles.

According to his official biography, Konyukhov is the only person to have reached the extreme points of the planet, such as the North Pole (three times), the South Pole, the Pole of Inaccessibility in the Arctic Ocean and the top of Mount Everest (twice). He also sailed around the world via Cape Horn four times.

In 2002, the adventurer set a world record by crossing the Atlantic Ocean solo on a rowboat in 46 days and four hours. The record remained intact for about 11 years.

In 2013-2014, he finished a solo-rowing non-stop voyage across the Pacific Ocean, reaching the Australian coast after a 159-day adventure.

In 2016 he also dared to break the world record and performed a nonstop solo hot air balloon flight around the globe in just 11 days and 4 hours. He covered over 21,800 miles.
