Govt to provide free Sehr, Iftar meals in shelter homes

About 19 items would be available at subsidized rate at fair price shops in Ramazan bazaars under Ramzan package 2019

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 18th April, 2019) The government has decided to arrange free meals for Sehri and Iftari in the shelter homes.

The announcement was made by Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed on Thursday.

Sheikh Rasheed said that 19 items will be provided at a cheaper cost to the public in Ramzan package.

He said that a five-member team of ministers will supervise the Ramzan package, adding that free Sehr and Iftar meals will be arranged in shelter homes.

The minister further said that the Ramzan package is aimed at providing the poor with cheaper access to edibles.

He added that the package has been approved by federal cabinet upon the directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Sheikh Rasheed said about 19 items would be available at subsidized rate at fair price shops in Ramazan bazaars under Ramzan package 2019 worth Rs 2 billion.

Sehri and Iftari will also be arranged at the shelter homes with the amount allocated in the Ramzan package.

A number of shelter homes have been established on the directive of the Prime Minister to provide a living place for homeless people.

Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated state of the art Shelters Homes for orphans, street children and homeless people as part of 100 days plan of the PTI government.

The project is aimed at restoring the self-respect of those people who spend the night under the open sky besides broadening the circle of social responsibility by the state and citizens.

Over 100-bed have been arranged inside the shelter homes to accommodate the poor. Women and homeless people are also housing in the shelters.

The relevant staff has been posted in the shelters homes for proper look after of the inmates of the shelter homes.
