Novatek's 3rd LNG Plant To Have Annual Production Capacity Of 5Mln Tonnes - Top Manager

SABETTA (Russia) (Pakistan Point news / Sputnik - 15th April, 2019) Novatek's third LNG plant will have an annual production capacity of 5 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas, Evgeny Kot, the company's LNG director and deputy chairman of the management board said Monday.

"To further develop liquefaction technology Arctic Cascade in order to increase production capacity, Novatek is preparing to build another LNG plant in Sabetta. Its capacity will be 5 million tonnes," Kot said during a meeting with lawmakers from Russia's upper house in the camp of Sabetta, the home base of the Yamal LNG Project, in northern Russia.

Novatek CEO Leonid Mikhelson said in January that the company would make an investment decision on the construction of a third LNG plant in 2020-2021.

The patented LNG technology is based on a two-stage liquefaction process that capitalizes on the colder ambient temperature in the Arctic climate to maximize energy efficiency during the liquefaction process
