UAE commissions new fishing slipway in Yemen

RED SEA COAST, (Pakistan Point News - 15th Apr, 2019) The UAE today commissioned a new fishing slipway in Al Heima area, in Yemen’s Red Sea Coast, bringing to 22 the number of fishing facilities revamped by the country to ease the suffering of the Yemeni people in various parts of the country.

Consisting of a fishing marina and a management room, the solar-powered facility caters to the needs of more than 10,000 people in Al Heima area and its adjacent districts.

"Up to 2,000 fishermen resumed their activities after the reopening of the new facility which will significantly contribute to creating job opportunities among the fishing community," said Mohamed Al Junaibi, Director of the Emirates Red Crescent for Humanitarian Affairs.

Hashim Al Az'zi, Undersecretary of Hodeidah Governorate, extended thanks to the UAE for its sustainable humanitarian and developmental assistance, which, he said, is fundamental to restoring normalcy across the Coast.

Hassan Ali Ibrahim, Director General of Tahita District, explained that the facility will benefit a number of areas, including Al Heima, Al Ward, Al Nahari, Beni Akesh, Al Sada, Al Wali, Al Wadi and Al Mina.

The fishing community in the Red Sea Coast thanked the UAE for the significant support.
