The Sharif family owned Ramzan Sugar Mill has stopped the payment of sugarcane to poor growers belong to Jhang and Chiniot soon after the measures taken by National Accountability Bureau (NAB)

Jhang (Pakistan Point News / Online - 15th April, 2019) The Sharif family owned Ramzan Sugar Mill has stopped the payment of sugarcane to poor growers belong to Jhang and Chiniot soon after the measures taken by National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Even commissioner Punjab has failed to make recovery from the mill administration.Shahbaz Sharif, Hamza Shahbaz and Salman Shahbaz are the real owners of Ramazan Sugar Mill and they are currently facing corruption charges worth billion of rupees.

Currently, large number local growers held protest sit-in in-front of sugar mill against nonpayment of sugarcane. Most the growers of Jhang and Chiniot have viewed that Mill administration has to pay Rs 20 billion to them.They have appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar to make sure the due payments of sugarcane so that justice could be done.On the other hand NAB has summoned Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz in Ramzan Sugar Mills case.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader has been summoned as chief executive of the mills. Earlier this week, an accountability court in Lahore had indicted Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif and his son Hamza in the Ramzan Sugar Mills reference. The father-son due is currently on bail in the reference.The NAB has filed a reference accusing former Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif, his son Hamza Shahbaz and others for causing losses to the national exchequer and misusing authority by sanctioning construction of a bridge to facilitate the sugar mills.
