MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 15th April, 2019) Russian President Vladimir Putin has welcomed participants and guests of the 11th ATOMEXPO 2019 International Forum, which kicked off in the resort city of Sochi earlier on Monday, noting Russia's significant potential in nuclear technology.

In a special address, published on the Kremlin's website, Putin stressed that nuclear technologies opened up new opportunities for medicine, creation of unique materials, space exploration and development of the Arctic, as well as bolstered energy base of the economy.

"Russia has traditionally had a powerful human, scientific and production potential in this field, actively participating in international cooperation and offering its partners high-quality, reliable, safe and environmentally friendly solutions," the president said in his address.

Putin also expressed hope that the ATOMEXPO 2019 would be held in a constructive atmosphere and contribute to resolving long-term tasks facing the nuclear industry.

The 11th edition of the annual ATOMEXPO forum, organized by Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom, will continue through Tuesday. The heads of leading companies of the industry, government officials and experts from across the world will discuss the state of the nuclear industry, as well as the trends of its further development.

Last year, the forum brought together more than 4,000 delegates and guests from 68 countries, with 39 agreements on cooperation and partnership, including commercial deals, signed on its sidelines.
