The decision on eligibility of Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjarani to act as acting president was announced by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday.

The decision on eligibility of Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjarani to act as acting president was announced by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday.
Justice Amir Farooq of IHC announced the reserved judgment.
The IHC had reserved the judgment on April, 18, 2018.
The petitioner had taken the plea that Sadiq Sanjarani is about 40 years old at present. It is laid down in the constitution that a person of 45 years age can become president of the country.
“If Sadiq Sanjarani assumes the office of acting president then a constitutional crisis will surface. Who will discharge the responsibilities of president in the absence of president?” the petitioner stated.
The petitioner had prayed the court to restrain Sadiq Sanjarani from assuming the responsibilities of acting president. Under article 41 of the constitution, election of chairman Senate should be held again.
