MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th April, 2019) The French security forces on Saturday detained 23 people during yellow vest rally in France's southern city of Toulouse, local media reported, citing the local police.This is the 22nd consecutive weekend of national protests throughout France. As for 14:00 local time (12:00 p.m. GMT) around 7,500 people took part in yellow vest rallies across the country.
BFMTV broadcaster reported that the police detained 23 protesters, including for throwing objects, causing damage and carrying of weapons. Moreover, two people were injured.
The broadcaster reported earlier in the day that the police tried to push back the crowd using tear gas in response to confrontation by people dressed in black and wearing masks.
The wave of the yellow vest rallies started in France in mid-November over planned hikes in fuel taxes. While the French government abandoned its plans to raise fuel taxes and introduced other measures to improve the country's socioeconomic situation, protesters continue to take to the streets across France every weekend for demonstrations to express their discontent with the government's policies.
