Thousands gather in Jhang to form human image of Christchurch mosque

Clad in white shalwaz kameez and prayer caps, the worshippers stood together in the gardens next to Hazrat Sultan’s shrine in Jhang to make a human image of Al-Noor Mosque, Christchurch.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 13th April, 2019) At least 2000 people gathered in Jhang to form a human chain of Al-Noor mosque in Christchurch to pay tribute to the victims of deadly attack on March 15.

Clad in white shalwaz kameez and prayer caps, the worshippers stood together in the gardens next to Hazrat Sultan’s shrine in Jhang to make a human image of Al-Noor Mosque, Christchurch.

The flags of New Zealand and Pakistani were displayed above the mosque formation. A huge banner reading "Solidarity with the martyrs of Christchurch from Pakistan" was also placed along the photographs of the shooting victims.

People recited Durood and chanted Allah-o-Akbar on the occasion.

The tribute was organised a non-government organisation named Muslim Institute that is aimed at promoting peace and stability in the Muslim world.

The NGO also released the drone footage of the human formation of the mosque.

At least 50 people were killed and dozens others were left wounded in mass shootings at two mosques in New Zealand's eastern city of Christchurch on March 15, Friday, marking one of the "darkest" days in the country's history.

Australian Brenton Tarrant, 28, a self-avowed white supremacist, has been charged with 50 counts of murder and 39 of attempted murder after opening fire at Al Noor and a second Christchurch mosque on March 15.

The attack has left the families of victims in immense pain and sorrow.

A total of nine Pakistanis were also martyred in the attack.
