Sudan's Rapid Support Forces Call For Creating Courts For Fighting Corruption

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 13th April, 2019) Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) called for establishing courts and prosecutor general's office for fighting corruption following months of anti-government protests and the overthrow of the long-time president.

On Thursday, the Sudanese military ousted President Omar Bashir and established a military transition council. The RSF, which is the part of the Armed Forces, however, refused to join the council, calling for the creation of a transition body that would include both military officers and civilian officials.

"To establish forces and prosecutor general's offices for fighting corruption in all forms," the statement read.

The coup in the African country followed months of anti-government protests which were initially sparked by the acute economic situation and subsequently grew into a nation-wide campaign against Bashir, who was in power for almost 30 years.
