Lahore High Court (LHC) has reserved judgment on a petition seeking court's orders to declare a police officer as " shaheed" who had committed suicide.The petition came up for hearing before a single bench of LHC presided over by Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi Friday

LAHORE (Pakistan Point News / Online - 12th April, 2019) Lahore High Court (LHC) has reserved judgment on a petition seeking court's orders to declare a police officer as " shaheed" who had committed suicide.The petition came up for hearing before a single bench of LHC presided over by Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi Friday.The petitioner took the plea that ASI Azeem committed suicide in police station Defence and he is not being given the status of Shaheed. The petitioner prayed the court to issue orders for declaring ASI Azim Akhtar Shaheed.SP Legal took the plea suicide is unlawful in islam and the police personal who commits suicide can not be declared Shaheed.The court reserved the judgment after hearing the arguments.
