Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the government is making efforts to bring back Pakistani prisoners who have completed their sentence.
Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 11th April, 2019) The Pakistani government is making efforts with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) authorities to release Pakistani prisoners.
A meeting of Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs headed by Senator Mushahid Hussain was held where Senator Sherry Rehman said that Pakistanis are imprisoned in UAE jails despite completing their sentence.
To this, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the government is making efforts to bring back Pakistani prisoners who have completed their sentence.
He said that we will get a good news from the UAE in Ramzan.
The Pakistani government has intensified efforts to get its citizens released from jails in the Gulf countries.
The efforts are being made through the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) and the Ministry of Overseas Pakistani and the main focus is to get the prisoners released from jails in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
There are around 2000 Pakistani prisoners in jails in Dubai and Northern Emirates.
Following the government's efforts for the release of Pakistani prisoners in Saudi Arabia, it is now focusing more on release of prisoners from the UAE.
