PITB to implement HMIS of SKMCH in PESSI`s 17 Hospitals Across Punjab: MOU Signed

Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) will implement the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) of Shaukat Khanam Memorial Cancer Hospital (SKMCH) at 17 government hospitals of Punjab Employees Social Security Institute (PESSI) across Punjab, providing state of the art medical facilities to one million PESSI workers & their six million family members at respected hospitals

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News - 8th Apr, 2019 ) Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) will implement the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) of Shaukat Khanam Memorial Cancer Hospital (SKMCH) at 17 government hospitals of Punjab Employees Social Security Institute (PESSI) across Punjab, providing state of the art medical facilities to one million PESSI workers & their six million family members at respected hospitals.

For this purpose, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Chairman PITB Azfar Manzoor, CEO SKMCH Dr. Faisal Sultan and Commissioner PESSI Saqib Manan here at Arfa Software Technology Park today. The first HMIS will be implemented in Rahmatul Lil Alameen Institute of Cardiology Social Security Hospital Lahore.

While addressing, Provincial Minister for Labour & HR Ansar Majeed Khan Niazi said that under the vision of Prime Minister Pakistan Imran Khan, the task allotted to him is to make Public Service Delivery efficient and accessible to grass root level. Health and education are the two most important sectors that need immediate attention. Chairman PITB Azfar Manzoor said the MOU is a great opportunity for the extension of improved facilities for patients in social security hospitals, added that PITB has tremendous experience in successfully implementing HMIS at several hospitals. Our Implementation methodology is one of its kind tailored to our environment and culture. 28 public hospitals in Punjab are an evidence of this success. Saqib Manan Commissioner PESSI informed that the World Bank introduced a very important project Ease of Doing Business in Pakistan that requires digitization of all the contributions of PESSI. With the help of PITB, PESSI has completed and achieved all the tasks given by World Bank. He lauded the performance of Chairman PITB and his team for all the assistance they have provided to keep the flow of work. The CEO SKMCH, Faisal Sultan revealed that this system has been provided free of cost to PESSI and has been in use of SKMCH for more than 20 years. He added, the HMIS of SKMCH is a home grown system designed for optimum medical care ensuring safety of patients and their data. While designing this system, we made sure that the product was extendable to other organizations, he concluded. Hospital Management Information System is an integrated IT solution of cross-function automation of a hospital’s various departments which helps to Simplify and speed up the routine operations, Improves clinical service delivery and helps in Data-enabled clinical decision making. It also provides data for Research & Development and ensure transparency while improving patient experience. All Electronic Medical Record is available on one click and system enables checks on medicine pilferage and maintain transparent inventory management. HMIS addresses a multitude of inefficiencies that exist in the manual paper based system. HMIS is a comprehensive software completely automating cross-functional departments (both clinical and administrative) of the hospitals.
