Libyan National Army Aircraft Strike Mitiga Airport in Tripoli - Reports

Combat aircraft of the Libyan National Army, led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, on Monday carried out an airstrike against the only active airport in the Libyan capital of Tripoli, the Government of National Accord (GNA) said in its Twitter blog

CAIRO (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th April, 2019) Combat aircraft of the Libyan National Army, led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, on Monday carried out an airstrike against the only active airport in the Libyan capital of Tripoli, the Government of National Accord (GNA) said in its Twitter blog.

According to the statement by the GNA operative headquarters, the airstrike hit the Mitiga airport, which is located about eight kilometers (5 miles) east of Tripoli's city center, and threatened the lives of civilians and the safety of flights.

A local source later told Sputnik that the Mitiga airport had suspended operations following the airstrike.
