MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th April, 2019) The initiative of Viacheslav Volodin, the speaker of the Russian parliament's lower chamber, about the possibility of the State Duma's participation in the formation of the government is a "new proposal" for the Kremlin, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Sputnik.
Earlier in the day, Volodin proposed to amend the Russian constitution and provide the State Duma with the right to participate in the formation of the cabinet of ministers. The lawmaker specified that in accordance with the current constitution, the State Duma participates in the formation of the government only within the framework of a procedure for giving a consent to the president for the appointment of the prime minister.
"This is a new proposal," Peskov said when asked whether this issue is on the Kremlin's agenda.
